Good thing we went to bed early-ish. I woke before 7 and was ready at 7:30 to bring Nox in for a synth oil change and general inspection at 8. The mom and pop mech shop owners didn't arrive til 8:15, the filter was not a stock item so I had a bit of a wait while their supply brought it in, but the lube job was only $40 total and I was home by 10:20.

I expected some issues, and I was not disappointed. First, the wheels are affixed with locking lugs, which require a special tool to remove. The tool was not present. Normally it would be in the emergency flat repair kit that's stock in lieu of a spare. Without it, tire rotation is not possible, so that tool is something the parts mgr will try to get a hold of for me.

The special locking lugs are on 3 wheels, but not the front passenger wheel - probably not merely coincidentally that's the quadrant where the axle is leaking grease because there's wear or damage. I think it's a fair guess that that the accident on the Carfax report was fixed cheaply and the whole passenger front wheel replaced, lugs and all. So they're ordering axle replacement parts and Sat. morning I'll bring it back in. That will set me back around $350-400, but I'll rest easy knowing the front suspension is all solid.

That leaves comfort and cosmetics. The only other thing I would change at this point is have a stereo tech cushion the speakers so bass doesn't rattle them at volume.
