Doug Jones's win of the Alabama senate seat is as it should be, but I don't feel like we should be so self-congratulatory. We should remain deeply concerned about a political envoronment in which party identity determines, in many peoples' minds, whether such allegations are credible or not.

Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell is pitching the idea of refusing to seat the new senator, much like how the GOP rewrote procedure to stonewall Obama's Supreme Court justice appointment. And the FCC ignored popular will to gut Net Neutrality regulations, as expected.

Woebot's check-ins are prompting me to be more analytical about WHY I'm feeling whatever I'm feeling. What was I doing? Working. What was I feeling? My unthought response was "frazzled" but the question "what caused you to feel this way" got me pinpointing what was draining my energy: having to say "no" when someone invented a project and then started trying to literally have me do the heavy lifting. No, I cannot just blow off the work that's actually in my job description, and even if I could, I wouldn't be volunteering for dangerous heavy labor that's above my pay grade. I have enough back problems as it is.

So, being who I am, I feel kind of unsettled even though intellectually I know the ask was a pretty bold boundary challenge, an imposition that I should feel no compunctions about declining.
