Up until Wednesday I was willing to take my chances with Irma in our hurricane-rated apartment. Then it clicked that it was more likely than most recent storms to bring some serious damage, power outages etc. If it had been just me, I might still have stayed put - I survived Wilma in 2005 and the subsequent 2 weeks sans power, after all.

The CU paid out the promised 10 cents per debit transaction for August, $3.60 into my "share" (savings) account.
Made this Food Network Shrimp Fra Diavolo recipe last night. A whole medium onion was maybe a bit much. In addition to the 1 tsp red pepper flakes up-front, I added a couple shakes of chili powder AND some creole seasoning mix near the end. It came out very spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. I didn't think I would get my CU and secondary brokerage accounts linked up until after Labor Day, but for once the process was expeditious. One of the selling points of my CU account was 10 cents back on every debit card purchase, which is pretty snazzy if you don't qualify for a cash-back credit card. I got my checking dividend, but I didn't see my cash-back credited anywhere. Customer service chat was immediate, and replied it should credit by the 3rd of the month. I probably vaguely knew this when I had to read The Crucible in junior high, but this Mental Floss article reminded me about how it's a pointed allegory for McCarthyism.
