Session #42: 2.22mi / 30m, and if I'm not mistaken, a record 1.75mi of that was at a jog - a couple laps at 5.4mph, but that just wasn't sustainable, so I backed off to 4.9mph. And that was the magic speed for today. Another way of looking at it, over 20 minutes solid at an easy jog. Yay for purpose-built running shoes. Also, a couple sets on the upper body machines (except abs), but other patrons were in the way, so maybe I'll do some more focused machine time over the weekend. And for record-keepin... (...more)

Looking forward to trying my new running shoes. My previous pair were some comfy velcro-enabled cheapest-possible-sneaker from Target or the like, that I bought just to have something less bulky than my steel toe work boots to wear on planes and vaycay. To recap my shopping process, I had looked through reviews to get a handle on what would be a good buy in my price range, up to $100, and a Runners World magazine review suggested the Saucony ProGrid 2 Kinvara as a superior value in that range. Long long dreams, wish I'd jotted it down earlier... near the end, there was a mirror (ala Imaginos) who was also a black woman who painted herself blue, and she had another white friend who may or may not have been a mirror, and also painted herself blue. I wasn't fatally attracted to her (the first mirror) but she made no bones of wanting me.

(per twitter) session #40 (wow!): 3.3mi / ~50 minutes, cooldown, and some upper-body machine time. That's a really slow 3.3mi time for me, and it's because I kept thinking I would cool off and hit the Cybex equipment... but when I had cooled off, I felt like I hadn't done justice to the cardio portion of my workout, so I stepped the pace back up and got hot and sweaty all over again.
