Doing my morning CA stuff I suddenly remembered I'd had a CA dream. The Mist land I was defending was under attack and I ran out tokens healing my fellow defenders just as the last attacks to sack were coming in. Preparing to record that reminded me I had another dream - the Albany side of the family was gathered for a funeral and I ended up with a basement bed assignment and somebody, not a family member, maybe one of the young friends of family, snuck into my bed after lights-out. Also stuff about ... (...more)

Needless to say, the peak protein index value on the Five Guys menu is not the fries. One "regular" size fries is 10g protein / 620 calories = .0161 protein index value. The veggie sandwich is not terrible but far from good at 16g protein / 440 kcal = .0364 index. Just like the title says. Weird how my neck/upper arms/shoulders are so red but from the elbow down is fine. My feet and lower legs are a little pink but nothing like the shoulders. I got curious about vitamin D but it turns out I probably get plenty enough from my multivitamin. Vitamin D is synthesized in the skin from cholesterol and UVB radiation. UVB is blocked by glass, cloud cover, smog, even the atmosphere itself when the sun is beyond a certain angle from zenith. Above 48 N latitude (Boston MA) ... (...more)

Ears are still borderline stuffy, especially the right, and still coughing and post-nasal dripping a bit, but I seem to be well past the worst of the lung-cookie stage. I'm leery of launching back into full-intensity gym sessioning, but the weather was near-perfect for a beach stroll and the beach itself is as close to perfect as it gets this time of year, so I was out and about by 10ish to get some sun and exercise. Checked mail relatively late yesterday, certainly well past the 10AM mark at any rate, ... (...more)

In application design, the requirement of being able to Create, Read (or Retrieve), Update, and Delete a data record is so common that we have a mnemonic acronym: CRUD. And a common design pattern is to present a data entry "form" or "screen" that fufils each of these requirements in one user-interface. The record "under the lens" in application usage normally represents some unique object. To ensure the unique correspondence of data to object, we assign an identification number, and the database servic... (...more)
