Left work late-ish last night, ~8:30? Arranged rent and picked up groceries on the way home. $3 each for Bolthouse mango protein (30g) drinks felt a little frivolous until I compared JD muffans (12g/$1.25 = 30g/$3.125). (For reference, a McD muffan is 17g/$2.79). The carb load is only a little concerning. Was super-tired by bedtime, slept hard, woke feeling stuffy at the 6:55 morning prayer reminder. First coffee, then a caf pill washed down with a Bolthouse on the commute. Discarded a couple exerci... (...more)

Dawdled at work until close to midnight, needed to make cheesy bolillos and stretch a little and answer yahoos to wind down for sleep. I don't think I actually slept until ~2AM. Still woke with the alarm. Instant and a caf pill. 2 PB sammiches ~1:15, call it 32g. Caffeine round two ~3pm. Updated accounts register. Yesterday I had some success with an hourly reminder to do a set of (half-angle) pushups, so I'll try that again today. It didn't happen hourly, since the reminder might sit uncycled indefinit... Was awake too late answering yahoos. A cup of strong instant plus a 200mg caf pill fixed me up. 30g Naked blueberry protein drink on the commute. Added brokerage to one of my IRA accounts. The church that gives EC office space rent-free, and Internet and phone, has asked for a room back for their organist (music director?) We can't very well say "no", so it looks like we're losing our storage/records room, which means I can't cache my spare monitors, lappy and tablet packaging, etc. there. So I have ... (...more)

Back in late Nov 2012 when D.- broke up with me, I looked back over the preceding weeks and realized it had been foreshadowed by a passive distance or tension, certainly during my visit for her Halloween birthday weekend, and arguably months before. But perhaps the most spidey-sense-tingling part was where she kept checking in via instant-messenger during that day to see when I was getting home. There were any number of times Miss Cupcake would say "are you home yet" / "still at work", and nothing disap... (...more)

TheOrbit blogger "Brute Reason" on Emotional Labor (what it is, how to do it) A brilliant polymath friend of mine shared that link on their Facebook timeline. Touching as it does on relationship ethics, I started out keen, and then as I reached the recitation of the Metafilter post's comments, I started to feel uncomfortable. These seemed more like highly specific recollections about incidents of being victims of inconsiderate behavior that the reader-respondents didn't know how to address, or lacked th... (...more)
