session #47: initial sets on upper-body machines:
~10 reps @ 70# / chest press (that's new)
12 reps @ 70# / ab crunch (that's not)
10 reps @ 50# / overhead press
12 reps @ 50# / arm extensions - may graduate to 70# soon
10 reps @ 50# / arm curls (v.hard at the end)

On the second set (and third if I'm feeling it), I lose a few reps, and finish out the set with another 6 reps at one weight plate lighter. The chest press seems too easy; I feel like I must be doing something wrong if I'm dogging 50# on the other machines. My two "trouble" stations are overhead press and arm curls; by the third set I'm usually so fatigued that I can't finish a set of 12 even at 30#. Tonight I just did 2 sets though.

On the treadmill, my heavy lunch held me back a bit endurance-wise (egg+cheese ~noon, and then they held me down and made me order sushi when I reached the office). After a warm-up I did a routine half-lap at 7.5mph. My breathing was sloppy. Cooldown, a half-lap at 6.5ish, cooldown, pushed a bit past the half-lap mark at 7.5mph with more focused breathing.

After that my brain was bordering on overheating so I don't remember much, but I worked in a couple laps at 5.7ish, and finished strong with 3/4 lap at 7.5mph. That's been my top speed for a while now, and it's probably high time to step up to 7.7ish for the half-lap trial. I'm also kind of itching to try the full-session-at-a-jog a shade faster, say 5.2mph. Maybe Sunday. I wasn't paying attention when I passed the 3.3mph mark, but I'm pretty sure it was under 43 minutes, which puts it in my top 5 times.

Supper: Tijuana Flats. A couple weeks ago I recognized one of the Armstrong Fitness patrons by face, so I was like "don't I know you from publix", and she was like "yeah prolly" - and having determined this much, that I recognized her and she didn't particularly recognize me, we continued doing our own things. And then the next day I happened to be thinking of breaking into my Tijuana Flats gift card, and that sparked the connection: not Publix, rather she's a server at TF. She was working tonight, in fact she brought my order. So I was like "oh hey it wasn't publix after all" and she was like "oh yeah I go to publix a lot so when you said it I just went along".

Indeed; don't we all go to Publix a lot? I think there's at least 7 of them within a 5-mile radius of teh office, probably at least twice the saturation of their closest competitor, Winn Dixie. Odds are, we don't go to the same Publixes. Which is fine, really; it would start to feel a little awkward if we kept running into each other.
