"Redplum" is the bulk mail "coupon book" channel brand of Valassis, a NYSE-traded marketing company. It appears that through their dealings with the US Postal Service, they get every new PO box automatically subscribed to the Redplum dead tree delivery service. Their service model is "opt out", not "opt in". I can sort of see seizing on every new residential address service start, but PO boxes? What a waste.
To their credit, they do provide an online opt-out model. To their discredit, they give themselves a 6 week window to keep littering my PO box with their crap. 6 weeks? Must be nice to be able to function in such a relaxed timeframe.
Sun-Sentinel, the regional South Florida newsrag, has a similar bulk mail channel, but nowhere on the coupn book itself nor the Sun-Sentinel website does it indicate how to opt out.
