I've been through a lot of social media, since before "social media" was a buzzword. Since before the phrase "Web 2.0" was coined, really. AOL chat rooms; IRC; Usenet; everything2 blurring the line between forum and content-management systems; not MySpace for some reason; briefly Orkut; LiveJournal; Facebook, Twitter, Reddit; briefly dabbled in Blogger vs. Wordpress before home-rolling a blog engine.
With the observation that billionaires are ruining the planet and society for 99.9% of the rest of us, the latest social media pool I've dipped my toe is Bluesky. Like Threads (but why would I merely move from billionaire trash platform Xitter to billionaire trash platform Threads-by-Meta), BlueSky is a "microblogging" platform patterned on Xitter. It feels tweet-y. We'll see how it goes.
