I probably knew this at some point but TI(R)L the "Diana" referenced in The Kinks song "Good Day" from their Nov 1984 "Word of Mouth" album is English actress Diana Dors, who did die in May 1984 - not Princess Diana Spencer who was still very much alive until 1997. Ray Davies's lyrics go "she couldn't act much but she put on a show", a poetic contrast intended to lift up Dors's chipper socialite public image in the face of being basically robbed by her first husband. BUT - with over 100 TV and movie credits I would argue that she could, in fact, act well enough to keep getting callbacks - and that on top of a reasonably successful stage and cabaret career.
