1 ounce = 28.3 grams, ergo 1 oz of pure protein IS 28.3 grams of protein
Depending on purity and additives (emulsifier, flavorings):
- 1 oz of whey protein powder contains 24 ~ 28.3 g of protein (e.g. 25g / "Optimum Nutrition" brand)
- 1 oz of soy protein isolate (per BulkSupplements.com) contains 23 ~ 25 g protein

Plant-based protein supplements CAN be incomplete protein (lacking in specific amino acids).
Soy is unusual in being a complete protein (supplies all 9 essential amino acids).
For human metabolism purposes, soy protein isolate is as "high quality" as dairy, egg, or meat protein.

The great majority of global soy production is for animal feed. If we just ate the soy ourselves instead of feeding it to animals just to eat them instead, we'd generally be healthier and we'd reduce the "greenhouse gas" problem significantly.

Because animals are made of meat, yes you have to process more vegetable weight to get the same amount of protein - but it's not hard to process raw veg down to dense-enough protein forms (tofu, soy milk, isolate powders) and you still come out ahead of the downsides of heavy reliance on animal protein.
