When I decided to leave "inSync", my Castle Age guild of almost 11 years, I looked at the 100v100 leaderboard and started at the top guild. #1, "Redemption" declined me, so I contacted officer "Frillyknickers" (Marty Zive) of second-place Elite Owls.

We might have been FB friends years ago when games like CA tied deeper into FB's mechanics to promote friending. If so, that was before FB policy evolved away from such artifice and I purged a lot of rote game contacts. So, I had no way of knowing this back in late January when Marty helped me migrate from InSync to EO, but she was not well. We re-friended to make it easier to communicate as I moved my toon; and then within the past week or so, she suffered a stroke and a fall, and has since passed.

Evidently Marty was widely known and much loved among CA's diehards. The CA community summoned a Fenrir monster today as a memorial, for players to tag in with minimal damage, and in 7 days the monster will time out and "flee".

Super geeky-weird? Yes, but also somehow tearjerkingly beautiful.
