high hopes for Meta alternative communities.social
Its so new, I tipped the admin to a misspelling in the front page and got almost immediate response.
Needs more interest groups (the com'soc equivalent of subreddits I guess) but I don't want to mod a group.

I find it so ridiculous, but apparently hiring manager judgment on "classic" email domains really is a significant thing. I'm not handing over my email to techbroligarch Alphabet though. From what I can gather, Proton is a respectable alternative with an internationally savvy cachet. I can work with that.

As someone who has historically touted the virtues of "encapsulating business intelligence with automation", I should appreciate the emergence of tabular skill lists as a respectable resume` feature that hiring managers look for. Probably increasingly un-eyebrow-worthy in direct propertion to the penetration of "Applicant Tracking System" (ATS) automated parsers that power-assist skills-matching. We've passed a tipping point where resumes have to look good for The Algorithm before they ever reach a human, with the exception of a little niche of employers that aren't outsourcing recruiting AND haven't bought into ATS resume-analysis automation. I guess what makes mad about it is that the LLMs behind these screening tools are still fundamentally unreliable. But being mad about it will not get my resume past the clankers, so I guess I better suck it up and get used to tailoring a pertinent-skills table with supporting metrics in each resume variant.
