The phrase of the day was Occam's Razor, except (perhaps because) it was technically misused. By a philosophy student, at that. (Previous phrase of the day was "Bob's yer uncle", which was nothing short of bizarre to hear from an American.)
I'd made a dethpakt last week with Right Hand Gal to try out Popeye's $5 "Surf + Turf" box, which consists of 2 chicken strips, 4 butterflyed shrimp, a biscuit, a tublet of dipping sauce (ordered 1 BBQ and 1 "sweet heat", got 2 BBQ) and one side item. We went with Cajun fries. Not bad, not really $5 worth of good. I might do Popeye's again soon but not without a closer eye on protein index and protein per dollar. The "Surf + Turf" is 45g protein and 1060 kcal without the biscuit. A biscuit is 3g protein and 225 kcal and oh my are they salty.
Who the fuck would care about my Popeye's Surf + Turf Dethpakt, except this put me at some obligation to actually pick up lunchies today before Right Hand Gal keeled over hungry. Which meant I was in too much of a hurry, after this meeting that ran long over what I expected, to do the other thing I'd thought would be smart to do en route, which was preview the Youfit at Palmetto Square. And between meeting burnout and weather and that 1300+ kcal lunch, I was in no mood to take another detour back north after teh orffice. So that will have to wait til tomorrow at the earliest.
Sutter Home, all varieties: on sale. I know I love their merlot, but I had a hankering for white varietals - so I'm sampling the 2010 sauvignon blanc with a few pieces of deli catfish while waiting for tortellini to boil, and I'm pretty pleased with my selection. Saving half the catfish for breakfast, half a bag of tortellini with a chicken breast, spinach and broccoli, and a generous dollop of pesto for dinner part 2. Tomorrow, the rest of the tortellini topped with chili and bean stew for lunch.
