Since I discovered St. Gregory's, Sundays are becoming the highlight of my week.

This undoubtedly speaks something about my job and my social life. Anyway - I made a particular effort to wind down for bed at a reasonable hour (~12:30) so as to be fresh and not rushing to be ready for church in the morning. Woke promptly with the alarm at 8, shaved and showered and dressed and gym bag together by 9:30, time enough to swing by McD with my mind on mcmuffins and mcmuffins on my mind... I know, that gets more amusing every week and by more I mean once was enough... and arrived at St. Gregory's parking lot in time to give my nails a quick trim in the car.

My friend Bob was there. So was my attorney. I have a special place in my heart for Bob, he went out of his way to welcome me my first week. All but 2 of the clergy were on vaycay so apparently the 8AM service was merged, and we had some musical inspiration from the Simple Gifts musicians. We had a report on the Haiti mission and a sermon about being gracious ambassadors of the kingdom of God. Someday I'll have to ask pastor Angela (Mother Angela? The whole Mother/Father thing in the Episcopal church is still a bit foreign), what exactly she meant about that newcomer who was berated for her clothing being dressed "like a princess". My guess is either a prossie or Lady Wimple or perhaps a crossdresser.

My McD second coffee had been too hot to drink before the service; afterward it was still plenty hot so I sucked half of that down and got my 3.3mi run on at Youfit. After the gym my coffee was STILL hot... at least 3 hours old... Then Total Wine for what has become a weekly 3L box of Inglenook/Franzia merlot. Last week I went a little crazy with craft brews, but this week I limited myself to one 12oz bottle of La Fin du Monde since I already spent close to $30 yesterday between movies and Boston Market. Oh, note to self: the Regal Shadowwood is "only" $8 before 3PM, then hikes to $10.50, plus another $3.50 for all 3D shows. Yes, $14 for a 3D show after 3PM. Highway robbery.

Sun was peeking out so I stopped for a leisurely stroll around Logger's Run county park to catch some rays before I went home. I believe it was 10 minutes, not even 15, in the sun, but that was enough at 1PM to inflict a mild sunburn on my scalp and shoulders. Very nice 10-15mph breeze kept 90 degrees from being too uncomfortable.

At home, I slapped one of my black bean pancakes in a dish, topped with some cooked ground turkey reheated with frozen broccoli, spinach, sliced black olives, roasted garlic seasoning, and an egg to bind it all a bit, dusted with parmesan/romano and a slice of pepper jack melted on top. I've realized I tend to cook quite bland, and salty additions like grated hard cheese and black olives go a long way toward keeping things tasty without sauces. Also, dill pickle spears were on sale 2-for-1 at Pubilx last week, I wouldn't buy them full-price but half-price is a fair deal. Mmm... savory.
