Sermon by Fr. Andrew, on the topic of greed. On the way out, Tom and ... the woman whose introduction was overwritten in my brain by the introduction to Tom... made overtures to recruit me for the choir. Evidently the woman had identified my range as tenor from my hymn-singing. I stumble a lot over the hymnal, usually I have to listen to the first verse before I'm confident to join in on the second - and my reading vision ain't what it was, so half the time I'm seriously squinting trying to pick out the words. I also thanked Fr. Andrew for the service and asked about the next newcomer classes. He said September.
I scoped around the CSL and even stopped to peek inside. I would have stepped in but looking in the door, I saw there is no foyer area per se, and I didn't want to interrupt mid-service. So I left and hit Dunkin for an egg+chz and iced coffee before the gym. I had a very nice run, 3.3mi/44:05. First 1.25mi at mixed speeds 5.7~6.7mph, a bit over a half-mile cooldown, then the rest at 5.7mph solid.
During the final lap cooldown, two women occupied the treadmills to my right and started talking about music, something about Van Halen... oddly, the one closer to me drew me into the conversation out of the blue. Evidently the other one is involved in the music ministry at St. Joseph, a Catholic church on Yamato Rd., and her style is somehow reminiscent of Van Halen. So I was like hey, that's cool, and I related that my church was trying to recruit me into the choir. The woman closest to me was like, well then you should join.
Yeah, I probably should. First I should probably get reading glasses.
At the gas station one of the kids ahead of me was holding a de-scented pet skunk. Wtf is wrong with people.
