Needed bread and pierogis, wanted protein but tired of chicken so I bought surimi too last night. A pound was probably excessive, but it's a nice change of pace so far. Hope it freezes OK because I don't trust it in the fridge more than a day. Also, a regular 750ml bottle of Sutter Home merlot with which I'm going to do a little reference tasting of the St.Regis near-wine. I COULD have restocked ice cream but I chose not to.

Have not slept well the past couple nights. Between that, being bored with my dietary choices and hence not eating exactly healthy, and very variable weather sucking the life out of me, I am not feeling peak this birthday.

Something that really brightened my day more than words can speak - Erica sent me a copy of Bishop John Shelby Spong's Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism: A Bishop Rethinks the Meaning of Scripture. I'd sent her a book, so this is sort of even exchange, but she also promised homemade cookies. That, and a registration flyer from the Baltimore Zero Cancer run were the only personal mail in my box. Odds are against me doing another Bawlmer 5K in the foreseeable future, so I suppose the responsible thing to do would be to ask them to take me off their mailing list.

Grocery shopping, then dinner. Some pretzels and a SR while dinner proper heated: Sun-dried tomato alfredo over ww fusilli, broccoli and diced surimi. Classico has some nice jarred sauces but this sun-dried tomato alfredo isn't all that tasty, just heavy.

Spent most of the evening responding to all the facebook birthday well-wishes, looking at those well-wishers' walls and pics, and catching up with a few people who I thought deserved more personal responses than just a "like". Maybe it says something about me that I'm as keenly conscious of who couldn't be bothered, as all the people who took 5 seconds say HBD.

Totally unrelated to birthday - I've had "Glory to God in the Highest" (Episcopal hymnal S280) stuck in my head all week.
