My roommate D.- got hit and totalled his scooter right before the holidays, so I gave him a ride to the train station on my way out and picked him up at Pubix pharmacy on the way back. The timing worked out pretty perfectly for me to duck into the gym for a couple sets on my upper-body circuit between teh oriffice and Pubix. As decided yesterday, I rearranged my circuit order: 12 reps at 50# / overhead press (yay, a full set at 50#) 9 reps at 50# / arm curl 3 reps at 90# XD and rebooted the set at 70# /... (...more)

session #50 (!): 2 sets on the upper-body circuit and 3.3mi in ~43m. Peak speed 7.5mph for like .8 of a lap. On the second set, I backed off to 30# for everything but ab crunches, but by the time I hit the overhead press I w... (...more)

If the Potomac Running New Year's Day 5K in Reston counts as session #49 (and why shouldn't it?) then my chip time of 37m3s equates to ~39m33s, which is my best time by ~80 sec.

Shrimp, crab, avocado + red onion cocktail w/bloody mary cocktail sauce, paired with "My Antonia" - a richly hoppy, malty brew Apple + roquefort cheese tart, paired with 90 minute IPA Asparagus + lobster salad w/ champagne vinaigrette, paired with Midas Touch. I previously thought I wasn't keen on the feety notes of Midas Touch but I might be thinking of a different DFH "ancient" brew, namely Theobroma. Or maybe I was already half in the bag and ready to drink whatever they threw at me. Beef welli... (...more)

bye bye FFXI: I started playing FFXI in mid-2004. In 2010 I got bored and disgusted with the deliberately slow rollout of Abyssea content and level limit bumps, and felt slighted by the devaluation of the Promathia achievements we had struggled so hard for. And at the same time I felt like the release of FFXIV meant FFXI was in its twilight, and that with my obsessive-compulsive-leaning psych profile, that perhaps MMOs in general needed to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing for me. (Obviously the FFXIV part tu... (...more)
