The Pubilx in the strip mall at the SE corner of Glades and 441 did indeed have Muir Glen canned tomato products with expiration dates in the 2014 range. I had to stare at the shelf a while in shock before I remembered that store has a separate Greedwise (organic shading into nutrition quackery) section, but remember I did. havng done it once and thought over procedure, I'm a lot more confident in the recipe now, so I went with double-recipe can sizes. Also a 1.5L bottle of Sutter Home merlot (on sale,... (...more)

If you google the phrase "random Bible verse", the highest-ranking results are websites that admittedly return a randomized selection, but only from a cherry-picked subset of Bible verses. No obscure jewels like this from Jeremiah 49:13: For I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. (For reference, Bozrah is known in modern times as Busairah in Jordan - a region which, while ... (...more)

Cooked up La Fe chickpeas (12oz bag) and Alma whole wheat fusilli (half bag) last night. Glad I snapped up the fusilli when I did because I haven't seen it at Pubilx since, and Alma's not a brand that Western Beef even carries. This morning I slopped on a generous teaspoon (or two?) of Classico basil pesto, and maybe a quarter jar of spicy re... (...more)

Hard to believe my blog engine has been chugging along for 14 months. I have a few refinements in mind.
  1. A "pager" control on individual entry pages.
  2. Banner, page layout and style adjustments to increase overall information density and make more use of screen area.
  3. Facilitate post-date edits, for retrofitting old entries from other services (e.g. LJ) without twiddling the database directly.
  4. A database backup/restore mechanism.

Ever wished Windows XP let you pick and choose what time data to display in the taskbar clock? XP has an annoying habit of losing tray process tooltips under the taskbar, and the tray clock often just doesn't respond at all to mouse-overs. Today I discovered I don't have to fight with it anymore, because there's TClock Light: a free taskbar clock replacement that grants a much greater degree of configurability. I set it to show the 3-letter day, 3-letter month and date. I keep my taskbar set to two line... (...more)
